Boy did we clock up the miles!! Uganda Team day 1

Day One, Sam here, (Kirkwood)! What a long day! With just over 24 hours of travelling completed we’re all here, with almost everything. Everyone except Connie has arrived with all but one suitcase, which is currently in Addis. With traffic on the M25 back in blighty heaving we arrived in the nick of time, but un-fortunately not enough to browse the duty frees’.  With a stupidly long haul flight, most were in high spirits and this showed at about 2am when the rest of the plane were trying to sleep. Upon landing, we arrived in a gorgeous Addis morning, with stunning scenery. However, less could be said about the toilet facilities in a busy peak period with flooded floors and no toilet paper, which brought us nicely into reality. However as soon as the airport had died down the cleaners did a sterling job and it was like the Ritz, incredibly relieving after such a long day. With just a 2 hour flight left the journey was nearly over… or so we thought. Arriving a little late we prepared to embark on about an hour drive, two and a half hours later we arrived at a beautiful house and scenery (which you’ll see in following pictures) that is so much better in real life then any picture or HD telly. And what amazing hosts we have, the food was beautiful, showers were heavenly and I cannot wait to fall into bed and sleep. However the day hasn’t been all doom and gloom, everyone has been on ‘The Banter Bus’ with singing from all the girls, Sigg’s and a beautiful rendition by Jez bringing myself and Rob (Mr Josephs) to tears. This journey has seen Jack Sigg’s name drop every celebrity he’s met in a day; Hannah nearly wetting herself on the final leg of our journey, Myself questioning whether I’d get through the Ebola checks due to illness; and most importantly, the team witnessing the Ugandan Children wave, smile and cheer to us as we drove through their country. The spirit and hospitality of the people have taken us all, on what has been an emotional, tiring day. Hope everyone back home is well, and to close. Here is a summary of the group’s highlights of the day…

‘Singing on the bus; getting to know everyone more; the bump of the plane landing; meeting strangers on the plane; sleeping on the concrete floor of the airport; the man in the pink dress (don’t ask!); the food here from our hosts; loosing track of time through having fun (there was lot of it) and everyone panicking at a hill. Off-roading experience extreme’.
Peace out and see y’all soon x

Glad to know Jack is making up for the week long silence he miraculously achieved to help fundraise for the trip!

Have you discovered yet that he even talks in his sleep?

It is VERY quiet here without him. Missing the noise and the antics.

Give him a hug from his Mum xxx
