No rain but a bit more pain mixed with lots and lots of joy!!

Day 6
A hello person of another world, this place is like a whole other world. I feel like iv’e been in a bubble the children are incredible and so full of energy that you still wonder why you have any left by the end of the day. Today was an early start of half six and we all had to remember to take our malaria tablets (thankfully no-one forgot). When heading of in the back seat of the coach looking out the window its incredible! This place never stops too inspire and surprise me. Everyday we pass a small railway track with no crossing bars its full of people selling fish and fresh fruit and shoes, I will never get tired of that sight. Getting closer too our village we started seeing faces of children from our classes they had run down a massive hill just to greet us. They all ran up the hill and pushed the coach very excited to see us. Getting out of the coach is always a manic business with small children tangled round your legs and arms stopping you from trying to get where you needed to be.

today we were told to head up to the big church (we are normally in the small church at the bottom), we got told that last night a massive crack appeared in our church and the lady who owned it explained that she was going to demolish it today or tomorrow. We were not expecting this so we had to make do both sharing the big church. Lets just say there was a lot of friendly banter between who’s group was the best of course small church is always going to be the best. Today we were doing dance, drama and music. It was the most fun we had had. Doing dances such as the Macarena, Saturday night and follow the leader. The kids went crazy and I got a lot of time to spend with the translators who are absolutely amazing. They taught us some dances and songs that were great to learn where we had to stand in a circle holding hands, then put one of our foots over their hands. It was crazy, as we had to jump around. I’m probably not explaining myself very well, but it was very fun. They then went to get their porridge while we went and found another spot to teach; in this lesson we created musical instruments and they sang a song about how grateful they were to have us here.
We had  no rain today (as it rained most of the night) but the last few days we have had torrential downpour for about an hour EVEN worse than England. Those that did after school club with the masses yesterday went on home visits. All have us have spent some time in the small shacks that one of our children live in with in many cases lots of family members. Many people found today’s feelings almost an emotional roller coaster, but it was really nice to understand how people felt as well as how you felt.
Lunch was also nice because I got to have a lot of time to catch up with everyone else. POPPY JUPP is the craziest person I have ever met she is always so happy and bubbly. Right now she is singing Pocahontas on the porch. Very loudly. Everyone is staying positive and trying their best for the kids. Event though the combination of heat, hard work and emotional situations can be very draining. We then had our afternoon group and had to dance ourselves out. We then said good bye to the children and headed out for free play and home visits, free play was great fun and gave us an opportunity to talk to the kids. When we met the people from home visits they were very distressed due to the conditions people were living in. When we got home Sophie had laid a delicious meal of chicken vegetables and mashed potato. MMM….  Everyone now is sitting and watching lightening outside on the porch.
Everyone says they love and miss their families and that they can’t wait to see them soon. Me? Nahh I don’t really miss my family because I know they are probably thankful that I am not their to leave my clothes all on the floor.
Great Day
Over and Out

Hello everyone. So sorry to hear about your church. But happy to see your dance moves. Danushka you seem to be enjoying very much. Good to see you all smile . I can just imagine to all sitting on the porch listening to thunder and lightening . It actually reminds me of my childhood. ( I grew up in a small village in Mauritius! It's has changed now, no longer a rural village)
I am sure you all enjoyed today and surely you are all exhausted.
Missing you loads Danushka , my little helper. Love you

Good to see you all experienced a real tropical storm. The closer you get to the equator the more bipolar the weather is. Don't soil your pants.

Dabushka, Patsy says hallo. She finally ate some Diwali sweets today... She likes sweetness too much (and she says that's why she misses you (she also likes being cheesy)).

Have fun learning the words to Pocahontas.
